The club’s first cup title was secured

It was a huge celebration day at Køge Idrætspark, which hosted this year’s cup final between HB Køge Women and FC Nordsjælland. With more than 2,000 spectators in attendance and the new East Stand being used for the very first time, the stage was set for a very special matchday – and the game certainly did not disappoint.

It took no more than three minutes after kick-off before the ball found the back of the net. Cassandra Korhonen broke through on the left flank and delivered a brilliant low cross into the box, where Macy Schultz arrived at the perfect moment. She calmly placed the ball past FC Nordsjælland’s goalkeeper to give HB Køge Women a dream start and a 1-0 lead.

The goals kept coming. After 24 minutes, the Swans doubled their lead to make it 2-0 – and once again it was Macy Schultz who found the net. A corner kick from Signe Markvardsen was delivered towards the far post, where Nadia Nadim rose highest and headed the ball back into the penalty area. Macy Schultz reacted quickest and managed to poke the ball into the net, sparking huge celebrations among the many HB Køge Women supporters in attendance. The remainder of the first half did not produce many major chances for either side.

At the start of the second half, the Swans were comfortable with their lead and adopted a more compact approach, which allowed FC Nordsjælland to see more of the ball – though without creating any significant opportunities. In fact, it was not until the 78th minute that the next goal arrived. Substitute Sarah Thygesen was played through on goal and elegantly lifted the ball over the advancing goalkeeper to make it 3-0.

The match appeared settled at that point, but FC Nordsjælland pulled one back from the penalty spot just a minute later. However, the goal came too late, and HB Køge Women were not done yet. Another substitute, Mai Wendicke, smashed the ball into the top corner from outside the box to score her first official goal for the club and seal the match at 4-1.

The victory means that HB Køge Women have won the first cup title in the club’s history – on home soil and in dominant fashion!
