HB Køge Women have appointed Mathilde U. Kramer as Head of Performance for the first team. With a background in international elite sport, Mathilde will play a key role in elevating the squad’s physical level.
“My responsibility is to make sure the players are fast, strong, and ready to perform. It’s about giving them the best possible conditions to succeed, not just once, but consistently throughout an entire season,” says Mathilde U. Kramer.
She has already experienced a high level of engagement within the squad.
“There’s a lot of physical potential in this group. The players are curious, and it’s incredibly motivating to see how they listen and put in the work,” she adds.
Focus on speed, strength, and durability
Drawing on her background in athletics, Mathilde brings a clear performance-driven approach to the daily work at HB Køge Women, tailored to the demands and intensity of football.
“It’s about becoming faster, more explosive, and using energy more efficiently during matches. When players move better and more efficiently, they gain more physical and mental capacity. By optimizing movement and strength, we can raise performance and reduce injury risk. That’s essential if you want to compete at the highest level,” explains Mathilde.
She points out that while football already places strong emphasis on the ball and tactical play, there is still significant physical upside to unlock.
“There are a lot of quick wins when it comes to sprinting, movement, and strength quality. Small adjustments can make a real difference in matches that demand high levels of speed, power, and endurance,” Mathilde notes.
Mathilde U. Kramer brings extensive international experience from athletics, particularly within sprint and hurdles disciplines. She has won 18 Danish senior national championships across the 60m, 100m, and 200m events, with and without hurdles, and has represented Denmark at the European Championships, World Championships, and the Olympic Games. At the postponed Tokyo 2020 Olympics, she was part of the Danish 4x100m relay team that set a national record.
Raising the Bar for Performance
Head Coach Kristian Mørch sees the appointment as an important step in the club’s continued development.
“We wanted to strengthen our work around strength and movement, and Mathilde is an obvious fit. She’s extremely skilled in her field and has a great ability to connect with players while always keeping their long-term development in focus,” says Kristian Mørch.
He highlights her collaborative approach with the squad.
“She doesn’t come in with a fixed blueprint. She listens, adapts, and builds ownership with the players, which creates a stronger foundation for their athletic development.”
