Late goals strike HB Køge Women again

HB Køge Women and FC Nordsjælland met on Saturday afternoon in the A-League in a match that turned out to offer plenty of drama. The overall picture of the game, however, was one of complete control from the home side. Possession was strong, the pressing was sharp, and the Swans created several big chances, while the visitors rarely looked dangerous at the other end.

A quarter into the match, HB Køge Women took the lead. Macy Schultz delivered a beautiful cross into the box, where Nadia Nadim got to the ball first and headed it into the net helped slightly by a small mistake from the Nordsjælland goalkeeper. Several big chances followed, but good saves and a lack of precision meant the score remained 1–0 at halftime.

In the second half, the pattern continued: HB Køge Women in control and pushing forward. After 67 minutes, Nadia Nadim struck again when she found space in the box and sent a low shot inside the near post to make it 2–0.

From there, it looked as if HB Køge Women would comfortably see out the win. But that was not how things unfolded. In the closing stages, FC Nordsjælland threw everything forward, and in stoppage time, the Swans were punished. Two late goals from the visitors meant the match ended 2–2 leaving HB Køge Women with just one point despite a strong performance.

The next task for HB Køge Women awaits on Saturday, 22 November, when they travel to Hjørring for the final A-League match of the year.
