HB Køge Women face another crucial fixture tomorrow as they travel to Brøndby for the second leg of the cup semi-final.
The first leg ended 1–1, setting up an intense encounter with a place in the final on the line. Head coach Kristian Mørch shares his thoughts ahead of the decisive clash, which he sees as something special.
“It’s always special to play cup matches where a winner must be decided. We’ve had three draws in a row against Brøndby, so in that sense it’s nice to know that tomorrow there’s no way around it – there will be a winner,” he says.
The two sides know each other very well after meeting three times in just two weeks. According to Mørch, the games have unfolded largely as expected – with HB Køge Women creating strong opportunities.
“Brøndby have more or less done what we expected. There haven’t been any major surprises. We feel that in both matches we’ve created the most chances and had two game scenarios we’re quite satisfied with. Now it’s about putting everything together in the third match,” he explains.
HB Køge Women go into the match on the back of an important win at the weekend against Fortuna Hjørring, which could prove vital in building momentum ahead of the semi-final.
“It was an important win. It’s a cliché to say that you play finals in the spring, but that match felt like a final. The intensity we had there is very similar to what we can expect in a semi-final, so in that sense we feel well prepared,” says Mørch.
A place in the cup final would not only be a great achievement – it would also be historic for the club.
“It would be fantastic. Now that we’ve come this far, we obviously want to get the most out of it. The league is still our top priority, but now that we’re in a semi-final, we really want to go all the way and have that experience,” the head coach concludes.
Kick-off is tomorrow at 15:00 at 1964 Park. If you’re unable to attend the match at the stadium, it will be broadcast live and free on DRTV. You can also follow the match on our Instagram and Facebook channels.
