Kristian Mørch ahead of BIF: “We focus on ourselves”

HB Køge Women face another important task in the A-League as Brøndby IF await in tomorrow’s clash. After a dramatic spring opener, the focus is on building on the comeback and chasing three points.

– It looks tough when you’re 3-0 down, but the reality of the game is also that we miss a penalty, and we have several situations where we put their goalkeeper under pressure and create really good chances. We also hit the crossbar late on, so there are more nuances to the game. And we’re very, very pleased with the response from the team after a difficult start to the second half.

At the same time, there has been a focus on adjusting the areas that didn’t work optimally:

– We’ve obviously looked at how we can improve some of the defensive situations, especially around their second and third goals.

Brøndby are a difficult opponent to prepare for, Mørch explains:

– I think Brøndby have changed their style quite a lot throughout the season and sometimes even during matches. They don’t have one fixed expression, so they’re quite unpredictable, and that means they don’t play the same type of games every time. They might also come up with something completely new, which is why we’ve focused on ourselves and our own game – and then we’ll deal with whatever Brøndby bring.

Belief in their own style of play is key for HB Køge Women:

– In all the games we’ve played in the A-League, we’ve created more than our opponents, and we’ve looked at how we can continue that against Brøndby. At the same time, we’ve been a bit affected by injuries and illness, so we’ve worked hard during the week to get a more complete squad ready again, with players who have the energy and not just need to get through the game.

The match also marks the beginning of a busy period, but the focus is clear:

– The most important thing for us is to take it one game at a time and not look too far ahead. Right now, all our focus is on this match, and we’re going into it 100 percent to win. Then we’ll deal with the situation and the next games afterwards.

Kick-off is tomorrow at 14:00 at 1964 Park. If you’re unable to make the trip to Brøndby, the match will be shown live on TV 2 Sport, with build-up starting at 13:30. As always, the game can be followed via story on our Facebook and Instagram profiles.
