HB Køge Women have today made club history. The club has sold 23-year-old Signe Markvardsen to English side Bristol City, who compete in the second tier of English football.
The transfer of Signe Markvardsen therefore becomes the biggest transfer in HB Køge Women’s history, surpassing the transfer of Isabella Obaze to FC Rosengård in 2023.
“We are incredibly proud that it is Signe who is making this piece of club history. She has been part of the club since she was a young girl, and many people within the organisation have followed her closely and played a part in coaching and developing her over the years. To see her progress all the way from a youth player to a key member of the first team, who is now taking the next step in her career, means a great deal to all of us,” says Sporting Director Jonas Nielsen.
Signe made her debut for HB Køge Women in 2021 and has since made more than 100 appearances for the club. During her time with the first team, she has helped HB Køge Women win two Danish championships, in the 2021/22 and 2025/26 seasons, as well as the Danish Cup in 2025/26. She was also part of the team that reached the UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage in the 2021/22 season.
Signe will now embark on a new adventure abroad – an opportunity the club did not want to stand in the way of.
“Signe deserves the opportunity to challenge herself in a new environment and take the next step in her career, and naturally, we do not want to stand in her way. We would like to thank her for everything she has given to the club, both on and off the pitch. She has been an important part of HB Køge Women for many years, and we wish her nothing but the best for the future,” says Jonas Nielsen.
Everyone in and around HB Køge Women would like to thank Signe for her many years of dedicated service and for the many memorable moments she has helped create at the club.
Thank you for everything, Signe! And all the very best in your next chapter!
