Comfortable Victory Over OB Q

HB Køge Women welcomed OB Q to Køge Idrætspark on Saturday afternoon for a clash between the top two teams in the A-Liga. Both sides had taken maximum points from their opening two matches, setting the stage for a true top-of-the-table encounter.

The opening 15 minutes offered few clear-cut chances, but the game's first decisive moment soon arrived. Cassandra Korhonen broke through the OB Q defence and was brought down inside the penalty area after cutting towards goal. The referee pointed to the spot, and Nadia Nadim, making her first start since returning to the club, stepped up to take the penalty. She calmly fired the ball into the bottom right corner to give HB Køge Women a 1-0 lead.

It looked as though that would be the score at half-time, but just before the break Nadia Nadim struck again. A long ball from the defence found Cassandra Korhonen, who laid it off perfectly for Nadim. With a superb first-time finish, she powered the ball into the bottom left corner, leaving the OB Q goalkeeper with no chance and doubling the lead to 2-0.

At half-time, head coach Kristian Mørch withdrew both Nadia Nadim and Simone Boye with Wednesday's away fixture against Brøndby IF in mind. The substitutions did little to change the flow of the match. The visitors from Odense rarely threatened, and much of the second half was played in OB Q's half.

The result was put beyond doubt with around ten minutes remaining. Once again, Cassandra Korhonen was the provider as she broke free down the left and delivered a pinpoint cross to the far post, where Rikke Marie Madsen headed home with ease to make it 3-0. That also proved to be the final score.

The victory leaves HB Køge Women alone at the top of the A-Liga table with three wins from three matches and an impressive goal difference of 10-0. Their next challenge comes on Wednesday, when the Swans travel to face Brøndby IF at 1964 Park. Kick-off is at 19:00.
