Wilma Boeck: Young Talent on the U16 National Team

HB Køge Women’s youth academy has once again made its mark on Danish talent development.
The selection of 15-year-old Wilma Boeck for the Danish U16 national team is a clear result of the club’s targeted efforts in the youth department, where the focus is not only on technical and tactical skills, but equally on the players’ mental and personal growth.

“Wilma has a strong and humble approach to being an elite player. She joined our U14 League squad but quickly transitioned to U16, where she has developed explosively,” says Head of Coaching, David L. Rigelsen, and continues:

“Wilma is incredibly hardworking, development-oriented, and works with high intensity throughout all 90 minutes. Her physical capacity and dedication give her great potential, and at the same time, she is well-liked within the team.”

Wilma Boeck has been part of HB Køge Women since January 2024, when she joined from B93. She highlights the club’s significance, which in many ways has shaped her athletic and personal development.

“Being part of HB Køge Women means a lot to me. The club has helped me a lot in my development, and it’s great to be in a safe and positive environment. We train seriously and have big ambitions, but at the same time we also have a really strong team spirit and can relax and have fun together,” Wilma explains.

Family support means everything
For Wilma Boeck, it’s not only the daily life at HB Køge Women that motivates her. It’s the ambitions, the environment, and the belief in development that drive her forward as a young elite player.

“It’s great to know that the club you play for has big ambitions and wants to help you develop as much as possible.”

When the news of her selection for the U16 national team came, the excitement was huge.

“It’s a big recognition and an amazing experience to get the chance to play against some of the best teams in the world. I learn so much from that, and HB Køge Women is the perfect place for me to develop so that I can hopefully represent Denmark on more occasions in the future.”

In her everyday life, her family plays a crucial role as Wilma Boeck balances school and elite football.

“My family supports me a lot. They help me in my busy daily routines and always come to watch my matches and cheer for me. It means a lot to feel that support from home.”

Wilma Boeck was selected for the U16 national team participating in the UEFA Development Tournament, where she played in all three matches against England, the USA, and Spain, and wore the captain’s armband for the first time in the match against the USA.
