Six goals, two hat-tricks, and through to the next round of the Cup

HB Køge Women travelled to Vanløse Idrætspark on Wednesday evening, where B-League leaders FC Copenhagen awaited in the third round of the Women’s Cup. It turned out to be a match that developed into a true goal-fest from the Swans.

However, the many goals took some time to arrive. The first half offered numerous chances for HB Køge Women, with Jereko, Olivia Garcia, Marta Lacho, and Nadia Nadim all coming close to giving the visitors the lead but the ball simply refused to go in. After 25 minutes, the breakthrough finally came. A precise cross from the left found Marta Lacho, who rose highest and headed the ball into the net for 0–1, her first goal for the club. The home side struggled to threaten HB Køge’s defence, and the halftime score reflected a well-deserved lead for the Swans.

After the break, Emelía Óskarsdóttir was brought onto the pitch, and it would prove to be a decisive move. The Icelander needed only nine minutes before she could fire the ball into an empty net after excellent work from Olivia Garcia 0–2 to HB Køge Women.

From there, the match was no longer in doubt. The Swans controlled the play, and with fifteen minutes remaining, the goals began to pour in. Óskarsdóttir made it 0–3 when she was played through and calmly placed the ball past the FCK keeper, before completing her hat-trick just five minutes later with a beautiful long-range strike to make it 0–4.

But Marta Lacho was not finished. Within just three minutes, she added two more goals both after impressive individual actions securing her own hat-trick and the final score: 0–6 to HB Køge Women.

With the victory, the Swans advance to the quarterfinal of the Women’s Cup, with the draw taking place tomorrow morning.
