Simone Boye ahead of Brøndby IF: “We need to do what we’re good at”

When HB Køge Women face their rivals from Brøndby IF on Saturday in another crucial A-League clash, it sets the stage for a true top-of-the-table showdown between the league’s number one and two. With a win, HB Køge Women can take a big step toward the championship, while a defeat would bring Brøndby firmly back into the title race.

Defender Simone Boye has been with HB Køge Women for just under five months, and she makes no secret of the fact that she has quickly settled into the club.

“I think it’s been really good. I’ve settled in quickly and I’m very happy to have come to Køge—both the city and the club. So I’m really happy,” says Boye.

Saturday’s match will be another chapter in a series of tight encounters between the two teams, who have already faced each other several times this spring. For Boye, these matches carry an extra dimension, as she comes up against her former club.

“It’s been a bit special playing against Brøndby—especially in Brøndby. But they’ve also been some fun matches, and I’m looking forward to facing them again.”

Although HB Køge have delivered strong performances against their rivals, the results have not always reflected their efforts. Apart from the recent 4–1 victory, the teams have drawn twice.

“I think we’ve played some good games against them, but we haven’t quite gotten the results we wanted. Of course, I hope we get that tomorrow.”

According to Boye, the key will be to focus on their own strengths when the match kicks off.

“Of course, we’ve prepared for Brøndby, but I also strongly believe that we need to focus on ourselves and do what we’re good at—and just believe that we’re going to win.”

Everything is therefore set for an intense match with a lot at stake, and the defender hopes for strong support from the stands.

“I think it’s going to be a really good game with a lot to play for for both teams. The weather also looks good, so it could be a really fun day—especially if we take three points. So you should come to the stadium.”

Kick-off is tomorrow at 16:00 at Køge Idrætspark. In addition to what will hopefully be a great match, there will be a fan zone with plenty of activities and autograph signings from selected players.

If you’re unable to watch the match live at the stadium, it will be broadcast live on TV 2 Sport with pre-match coverage starting at 15:30.
