Rikke Sevecke is the new assistant coach at HB Køge Women and will become part of the coaching staff around both the first team and the U19 squad. She brings with her many years of experience from the highest level of Danish and international women’s football and has a clear ambition to actively contribute to player development and the team’s overall performance.
“My experience from my time as a professional football player gives me a strong foundation in my day-to-day work. It’s about setting clear standards for professionalism and daring to set demands not only among the players, but also among ourselves in the coaching team. That’s how we raise the level together,” says Rikke Sevecke.
For Rikke Sevecke, the decision to join HB Køge Women was driven by a combination of sporting ambitions and the club’s clear direction.
“I see enormous potential in the squad and in HB Køge Women. The club has clear ambitions to develop and elevate women’s football not only in Denmark, but also internationally. At the same time, I’m looking forward to working with some truly talented players and contributing both to their development and to winning a lot of matches.”
Player development between U19 and Senior team
In her daily work, the interaction between the U19 squad and the first team is a central part of Rikke Sevecke’s role, where cohesion and continuity play a decisive role in player development.
“At U19 level, you work with players who are still in the transition to senior football, while the first team consists of many experienced players. That requires two different approaches, and that is exactly what makes it exciting. There is a big difference when moving from youth to senior football, in terms of demands, tempo and mental pressure. Here, support and familiarity in everyday life are important,” explains Rikke Sevecke.
Head coach Kristian Mørch sees Rikke Sevecke as a clear strengthening of HB Køge Women’s coaching team.
“I’ve talked football with Rikke many times, also while she was an active player. With an in-depth knowledge of her both as a former top player and as a person, she has the ability to stand firmly by her own convictions, and that is an important quality in a coaching team. She contributes calmness and overview, observes the game sharply and takes the space that is necessary without taking up unnecessary room. At the same time, she is an obvious talent in her role and contributes both professionally and personally to the entire group.”
Rikke Sevecke is a well-known name in Danish women’s football. She has earned 54 caps for Denmark and has had an international career with spells at, among others, Everton, FC Fleury 91 and Portland Thorns FC. Most recently, she served as an assistant coach at FC København Women before now taking up her position at HB Køge Women.
With Rikke Sevecke in the coaching team, HB Køge Women strengthens its focus on development and professionalism and takes another step in its ambition to leave its mark on the future of women’s football.
