HB Køge Women visited 1964 Park on Saturday afternoon to face Brøndby IF in a match where the Swans looked set to extend their lead to 10 points over second-placed Fortuna Hjørring. A late equalizer, however, prevented that from happening
The match began fairly evenly, though with a slight advantage to the Swans. Clear chances at both ends were limited until Cassandra Korhonen made a dribbling run along the byline. She cut the ball back to Marta Lacho, who struck it onto the crossbar. Apart from that moment, the first half offered little of note, and the teams went into halftime with the score at 0–0.
HB Køge Women started the second half strongly. Two minutes in, Cassandra Korhonen broke free down the left-hand side and attempted a low shot toward the far corner, but the Brøndby goalkeeper saved it. Only a few minutes later, the breakthrough finally came: A short corner was played, and Mille Gejl sent the ball toward the far post. Olivia Garcia rose highest and headed the ball into a dangerous area. Signe Markvardsen got the first shot away, but it was saved. The rebound fell to Maria Uhre, who fired in her second goal of the season to make it 0–1.
After opening the scoring, HB Køge Women created several big chances but failed to extend their lead. The home side grew increasingly dangerous as the match progressed and eventually found the equalizer. A cross from Brøndby’s right-hand side drifted across the penalty area, and at the far post an unmarked Brøndby player arrived to make it 1–1 in the 93rd minute, which also became the final score.
Despite the late setback, the result still ensured that HB Køge Women won the A-League regular season, as Fortuna Hjørring can no longer catch the Swans at the top.
