Kyra Carusa Loaned to NWSL Club Kansas City Current

HB Køge Women announced in January that club legend Kyra Carusa would be returning to the club, while also confirming that the striker would spend the first half of the year out on loan.

That next step is now confirmed, as the American-Irish forward will join sister club Kansas City Current in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).

“We are incredibly proud to operate at a level where a club like Kansas City Current sees value in working with us around a player of her caliber. It’s a strong reflection of where HB Køge Women stands today both competitively and strategically. We attract and develop players at a level that draws interest from top international clubs,” said HB Køge Women Sporting Director Jonas Nielsen, who added:

“We see this agreement as a great opportunity for Kyra and for both clubs. We’re excited to follow her journey at Kansas City Current, and we know she will return this summer in top form from our sister club, ready to take the next step with us and continue the journey we’re building at HB Køge Women.”

Kansas City Current is co-owned by Angie and Chris Long, who acquired HB Køge Women in May 2025.

The shared ownership has created a strong transatlantic partnership between the two clubs, opening new opportunities for player development, knowledge sharing and competitive experience across two of the world’s leading women’s football environments.

The loan of Kyra Carusa is a natural example of how the collaboration between the clubs can create value on both sides of the Atlantic, while supporting the shared ambition of continuing to grow and elevate the global game.
