Kristian Mørch ahead of top clash: “We have revenge coming”

HB Køge Women face a direct battle for first place in the A-League tomorrow as Fortuna Hjørring await. A defeat would send the North Jutland side to the top of the table, while an away win would allow the Swans to open up a five-point lead. That is also one of the reasons why head coach Kristian Mørch has been particularly looking forward to the match ever since the spring schedule was announced.

“This is probably the match I’ve been looking forward to the most since the spring fixtures were released. I really feel that we have a score to settle, and it’s a game where we have a lot to gain. We’re very eager to go out and show that we can beat them,” he says.

Preparations for the match have been affected by a tight schedule, with a cup fixture also taking place during the week, but that has not changed the team’s confidence.

“My preparations have been underway for a while, while the players’ preparations have naturally been a bit shorter. Fortunately, we were able to train on grass today, which helped us transition into match conditions. The schedule is very compact at the moment, but we feel ready – both in terms of the work we’ve done off the pitch and on it.”

According to Mørch, the key will be adapting to the flow of the game and the conditions on the day.

“We need to play the game that develops, based on the conditions and what Fortuna bring. The most important thing for us is that it becomes a match where our imprint is greater than theirs. At the same time, it’s also a game where the result is more important than how it looks.”

Fortuna are the only team HB Køge Women have yet to beat this season, which provides extra motivation according to the head coach.

“We definitely have a score to settle. I also think we’re in a place where the margins haven’t quite been on our side in the previous matches. We’ve conceded goals to Fortuna in both games, and that’s something we need to avoid. If we continue to create the number of chances that we do against our opponents, things will turn at some point – and I think this is a great opportunity ahead of the match against Fortuna.”

Kick-off is tomorrow at 14:00 at Nord Energi Arena. The match will be broadcast live on TV 2 Sport X, with coverage starting at 13:30. As always, you can also follow the match via our Instagram or Facebook channels.
