Kristian Mørch ahead of the season finale: "Hopefully a good and enjoyable ending"

Tomorrow at 2:00 PM, HB Køge Women will play their final match of the season when they host Kolding IF at Køge Idrætspark. A single point will be enough for the Swans to secure the club’s fourth Danish championship and complete the club’s first-ever domestic Double.

For head coach Kristian Mørch, the match will also mark the end of his first season at the club – a campaign filled with matches, memorable experiences, and decisive moments.

“Hopefully, it will be a good and enjoyable ending. It has been a long season, and it almost feels like two different seasons because so much has happened along the way. We played an incredible number of matches in the autumn, and during the spring we have had a series of very important games,” says Kristian Mørch.

Despite a championship being on the line, the focus in preparation this week has remained the same as throughout the rest of the spring campaign.

“What we have done well this spring is focusing on the performance we need to deliver. What works for the team, and what works against the opponent we are facing? That is the most important thing for us.”

“Of course, we are aware that there will be a lot of emotions and impressions surrounding the match, but that does not change the fact that we need to deliver a specific performance. That is where our focus is.”

HB Køge Women head into the season finale with a strong defensive foundation and a solid spring campaign behind them. According to the head coach, it will be crucial to build on the qualities that have put the team in a position to decide the championship on home soil.

“We need to continue building on the same strengths that have served us really well this spring. We have been very strong defensively while also being clinical enough in attack to secure the victories we needed.”

Kolding IF, however, will be an opponent that demands full concentration.

“Kolding are very good at creating chances, and we need to stop that. At the same time, we have to try to avoid constantly finding ourselves having to break down a deep-lying defence.”

If Kristian Mørch could write the script for Sunday’s season finale himself, his wishes are clear.

“The perfect day would be for the rain to stop when the match kicks off and for the sun to break through the clouds. That lots of people come to the stadium, that we score some goals, and that we get the chance to give a proper farewell and thank you to the players who are leaving us.”

“And then, of course, that we can celebrate it all together afterwards,” the head coach concludes.

The celebrations could continue at Køge Town Square on Sunday evening at 7:00 PM, where the entire team will be honoured by the fans if the championship is secured. Musician Skinz will also be there to help round off what everyone hopes will be a fantastic evening.
