Kristian Mørch ahead of the final: "I hope we experience the same incredible atmosphere tomorrow."

HB Køge Women face a decisive European challenge on Saturday afternoon when Scottish champions Heart of Midlothian await in the final of the second qualifying round of the UEFA Women's Champions League. Victory would see the Danish champions progress to the third and final qualifying round before the league phase.

Head coach Kristian Mørch looks back on Wednesday's convincing 4-1 victory over Riga FC with great satisfaction – both with his team's performance and the fantastic atmosphere created at Køge Idrætspark.

"It was a great experience. I think a tremendous amount of work went into staging the match, and I'm incredibly grateful to everyone who put so much effort into making this tournament possible. I'm proud of what we presented as a club, so huge credit to everyone who helped make it happen," says Kristian Mørch.

On the pitch, the head coach was pleased with how his side grew into the game and took complete control of the semi-final.

"We just needed a little time to get going, but I'm very pleased with the way we went on to dominate the game and ultimately won it comfortably."

A tough Scottish challenge awaits
In Saturday's final, HB Køge Women will take on Heart of Midlothian, who defeated Lithuanian side FC Gintra 2-1 in Wednesday's other semi-final. Kristian Mørch watched the match from the stands and has since analysed the Scottish side further.

"I watched their game on Wednesday, and I've also reviewed it afterwards as well as looked at what Hearts have done over the past year. They're a very good team, and it's going to be a difficult match."

Although Hearts are making their European debut this season, the HB Køge Women head coach believes that doesn't tell the full story.

"They were the best team in Scotland last season, finishing ahead of Glasgow City, a team we found difficult to play against in Europe ourselves. They've been building this team over many years. They're very well-drilled, have a clear identity, and they'll provide a really good challenge."

Sticking to our identity
Heart of Midlothian play a very different style of football to Riga FC, and Kristian Mørch expects that to create a different type of game. However, HB Køge Women will not change their own approach.

"Hearts play very differently from Riga, so naturally the opponent influences the way the game develops. But our own identity and style of play will largely remain the same."

Hoping for another fantastic atmosphere
Wednesday's semi-final was played in front of an excellent crowd at Køge Idrætspark, and the head coach is hoping for another memorable atmosphere in Saturday's final.

"I'd love to have those drummers back at every game, a packed lounge, and plenty of fans along the stands again. It created an incredible atmosphere, and I hope we'll experience the same again in the final."

The UEFA Women's Champions League second qualifying round final between HB Køge Women and Heart of Midlothian kicks off at 3:30 PM (CEST) on Saturday at Køge Idrætspark. The winners will advance to the third and final qualifying round of the competition.
