Kristian Mørch ahead of Fortuna: "We've been looking forward to the match"

HB Køge Women head north on Saturday to face Fortuna Hjørring in the A-Liga, and Head Coach Kristian Mørch is looking forward to another meeting between two of the top teams in Danish women’s football.

HB Køge Women will look to return to winning ways in the A-Liga on Saturday following last weekend’s defeat to FC Nordsjælland. This time, the Swans travel to face Fortuna Hjørring – an opponent they have played many close matches against in recent seasons.

That is why a trip to Hjørring is always one of the fixtures Head Coach Kristian Mørch looks forward to.

"It is always a special match when you travel to Fortuna. It is a place where we have played many matches over the years, and you always know that you are coming up against a top team. We have been looking forward to the match, and we are also looking forward to bouncing back from our latest league defeat and delivering a really strong performance," says Kristian Mørch.

A strong foundation

Fortuna Hjørring have made a good start to the new season following a change of head coach over the summer. While new ideas have been introduced to their style of play, Mørch still sees many of the qualities that have characterised the North Jutland side in recent years.

"There was already a really strong foundation in place, and they have been a very good team over the last two or three years. They had a bit of a difficult spell in the Championship Round last season, but that does not change the fact that they are a very good team."

The Head Coach has also noticed some new elements in Fortuna’s style of play.

"They have added a bit of Central Jutland inspiration to the way they play, with more pace and more transitions. That is something we have to be ready to deal with."

Looking to set the tempo

Despite a difficult task awaiting in Hjørring, HB Køge Women have plenty of belief in their own qualities. The Swans will look to play at a high tempo and are also prepared for a match that could become open.

"We believe we can play at a higher tempo. Even if the match becomes very open, we feel that is something we can benefit from as well. They are a very strong opponent, but they are also a team that we feel matches up well with us," Kristian Mørch concludes.

Kick-off between Fortuna Hjørring and HB Køge Women is at 1:00 PM on Saturday, and the match can be watched live on TV 2 Play.
