Another exciting challenge awaits HB Køge Women on Saturday afternoon when the team welcomes FC Nordsjælland for the final home match of the A-League season. Head coach Kristian Mørch and the squad have enjoyed a rare quiet week on the training pitch and it has set the team up perfectly for the top clash.
“It has been highly unusual for us. We’ve had a full week with a rest day and pretty much the entire squad available. It has allowed us to rest some players who needed it and train intensely with others. It has simply been a really lovely week, the kind we haven’t had many of this year.”
The last time HB Køge Women and FC Nordsjælland faced each other, the match offered drama from start to finish. After trailing 2–0 at halftime, the Swans turned the game on its head and secured an impressive 2–3 victory.
“In terms of the result, the two halves were completely different, but it wasn’t because we changed all that much. It was about small adjustments, and the team showed fantastic belief in what we were doing. It was an important match to win and a strong demonstration of what we can do when we stay committed.”
As the two teams meet again, Mørch expects another intense and entertaining match but this time, he hopes for a better start.
“We need to see if we can make the beginning of the match a bit more ours than it was last time. Nordsjælland play in an extreme way, and if they are allowed to dominate, you’re forced to react in an extreme manner. I would like us to dictate the game a bit more than usual. I think it’s going to be an intense and fun match.”
FC Nordsjælland played in midweek and have a tight match schedule, but that does not lead Mørch to expect major changes from the visitors.
“Nordsjælland deserve praise for sticking to their style of play regardless of opponent or schedule. They rarely change much, and I don’t think it will be different tomorrow. I also imagine they want to play European football next year, so they will need to pick up points this season.”
The match also marks the final home game of the A-League season, and the motivation to finish strongly is clear.
“This team loves winning matches and they would also love to win tomorrow. We have won 15 of the 18 matches we’ve played so far, and it would be fantastic if the end of the season reflects that picture. A victory would be the perfect way to round things off in front of our fans,” the head coach concludes.
Kick-off is tomorrow at 16:00 at Capelli Sport Stadion, and you can buy tickets for the match her. For those unable to attend, the match will be broadcast on TV 2 Sport.
