HB Køge Women face their third match of the week when they visit Brøndby IF tomorrow in Round 12 of the A-League. Head coach Kristian Mørch and his squad have had a tight match schedule, but the coach feels the team is in a strong place heading into the clash with their rivals from the Vestegn.
“It’s been like getting back into a rhythm we’ve experienced a few times this season though without a long trip this time. In that sense, it has been familiar, and I think we’ve been well prepared. We’ve come through the first two matches in a way that leaves us in a good position for tomorrow,” Mørch explains.
HB Køge Women have shown impressive attacking strength in their two previous matches this week, with a combined score of 12–1. The head coach points to efficiency as the key behind the many goals.
“Especially against Kolding, our efficiency was very high. We continue creating many chances, and in that match we really managed to convert them. Against FC Copenhagen, we weren’t quite as efficient, we could have scored even more if we had taken our chances better. But we were clearly the better team, which is why the match also ends with six goals,” he says.
Now a strong Brøndby side awaits a match he and the rest of the squad are looking forward to.
“We’re really excited for this match. Brøndby are a very good team, and it’s away from home, so it will be a tough game. It’s also close to last call for them if they want to stay in the title race. I expect an intense match, and it’s one we’ve been looking forward to for some time.”
The last time the two teams met, HB Køge Women came out on top with a dramatic stoppage-time winner at Capelli Sport Stadion. For Mørch, that match was an important benchmark for where the team stood as a unit.
“At that point, it was the first time we were really tested in terms of where we stood as a team. A lot has happened since then, we’ve added new players, some have returned from injury, and we’ve played more matches together. We’ve developed enormously since the last meeting, and I expect the match to take on a slightly different expression this time.”
“What’s tricky with Brøndby is that they change a lot in expression, style, and formation. We can’t be 100 percent sure what they will bring. But of course we’ve looked at what they did last time against us, and we’re ready if they try the same again. At the same time, we know they’ve done other things throughout the season, so we’re prepared for multiple scenarios,” the head coach concludes.
Kick-off is tomorrow at 15:00 at 1964 Park. For those unable to support the Swans away from home, the match will be broadcast on TV 2 Sport X.
