Kristian Mørch ahead of AGF: “We need to be alert”

HB Køge Women return to A-Liga action on Saturday afternoon as the Swans travel to Aarhus to face AGF.

The Swans head into the match on the back of a positive experience following Wednesday’s 1-0 away victory over PSV Eindhoven in UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifying.

Although attention has now turned to the weekend’s league fixture, head coach Kristian Mørch looks back on the performance in Eindhoven with satisfaction.

“We felt that we played a controlled and professional game, where we found more and more opportunities against them as the match went on. As they started to open up, we created bigger and bigger chances, and we were left with the feeling that we could have scored more than the one goal. So it was a really good performance,” says Kristian Mørch.

With the return leg against PSV already coming up on Wednesday, HB Køge Women must first turn their full attention to the A-Liga and Saturday’s trip to Aarhus. According to the head coach, however, switching focus from European football to the domestic league is not difficult for the players.

“I don’t think it’s that difficult because they are separate occasions. We’re back home now, whereas before we were in another country, and a completely different type of game and opponent awaits us. Fortunately, we have a squad that loves playing football, and that’s what we’re going to do tomorrow, so it will be good.”

Saturday’s opponents AGF have yet to get the start to the season they would have hoped for, but Kristian Mørch is not expecting an easy task in Aarhus.

“AGF have been competitive for periods in all the games they’ve played. Things haven’t quite gone their way, but they’ve been in a lot of those games and have also created chances against every team.”

For HB Køge Women, the match is therefore about building on the start to the season and continuing to develop the team’s own style of play.

“We need to be alert to the opponent and see the game as an opportunity to develop our play and our performance. We’re looking forward to it,” Kristian Mørch concludes.
