Kristian Mørch after home win: "We did what we needed to do today."

HB Køge Women continued their impressive start to the season on Saturday afternoon with a convincing 4-0 victory over ASA Aarhus at Køge Idrætspark. The reigning Danish champions now have six points from their opening two league matches, a 7-0 goal difference, and are already showing encouraging signs.

Head coach Kristian Mørch was pleased with both the result and the overall performance.

"We did what we needed to do today. The most important thing was to control the game, create plenty of chances, score goals, and come through the match without any injuries. We also managed to give valuable minutes to several players, so we're as sharp as possible heading into the upcoming period," said Kristian Mørch.

After two league matches, HB Køge Women have yet to concede a goal while scoring seven themselves – a start the head coach is delighted with.

"We're definitely pleased. We've had a short pre-season and a lot of new players, so it's important that we're already showing such a solid identity. Full credit to the players for making things click so quickly."

Rotation with a busy schedule ahead

There were several changes to the starting lineup against ASA Aarhus, something that was part of the plan.

"We're entering a period where we'll play four matches in a short space of time, so it's important to keep everyone involved. At the same time, a lot of players have earned the opportunity to show what they can do, and today they got that chance," explained Kristian Mørch.

Ready for the European challenge

Attention now turns to Wednesday night's UEFA Women's Champions League qualifier, as HB Køge Women begin another European campaign on home soil.

It is a challenge the entire squad is eagerly anticipating.

"We're really excited! It has been very valuable for us to have two league matches before the Champions League qualifiers, but now it feels like the season is really getting started. This is what we've been looking forward to ever since we won the championship. That's why I'm so pleased with the performances and results we've produced so far. We're in a really good place," said Kristian Mørch.

HB Køge Women take on Riga FC in the semi-final of the second qualifying round of the UEFA Women's Champions League on Wednesday at 7:00 PM (CEST) at Køge Idrætspark.
