HB Køge Women Take Important Victory in Aarhus: Danish Championship to Be Decided at Home Turf

HB Køge Women took a major step toward the Danish Championship on Sunday with a convincing 3–0 away victory over AGF in the penultimate match of the A-League season.

A strong team performance secured three crucial points in the race for the title. HB Køge Women took an early lead and then controlled the match against a well-organized AGF side.

Whatch the highlights here.

"It’s a top-class performance from us today on what is actually a difficult away ground against a very good team. We executed the things we wanted to do really well," says Head Coach Kristian Mørch.

HB Køge Women once again showed the attacking quality that has characterized the team throughout the season. Mwanalima Jereko continued her impressive form with a brilliant opening goal to make it 1–0, before Nadia Nadim added two excellent goals to seal the 3–0 victory.

"For the second time against AGF, Jereko decides to curl one in from the edge of the box. It’s a fantastic goal, and I’ve stopped saying she’s not that sharp in those situations because she’s doing it really well," says Mørch before continuing:

"The second goal is outstanding and a true team goal. And the third is the type of goal we’ve been looking for, where the ball just falls kindly for us in the right area."

Now attention turns to the final and decisive match of the season when Kolding IF visits Køge Idrætspark on Saturday, June 13 at 2:00 PM.

With a victory, HB Køge Women can secure the Danish Championship, and for Kristian Mørch there is no doubt about what it will take.

"We will bring everything we have. I told the players today that it’s our actions that matter. It’s not about what we think might happen. It’s about what we do out on the pitch."
