HB Køge Women Set to Chase First Points Against FC København 

The wait is finally over! Tomorrow evening, HB Køge Women kick off the fall season with their opening Danish Women's League match, traveling to face FC København.

After a summer of purposeful squad renewal, Head Coach Kristian Mørch is looking forward to competing for points once again.

"There's a special edge that comes with playing a competitive match compared to a preseason game. It's something you really miss when the league is on break. We're excited to feel that intensity and the excitement of playing for points again," says Kristian Mørch.

Tuesday's opponent is an FC København side that Mørch sees as an exciting way to open the new campaign.

"FC København has also gone through several transfer windows with plenty of changes, but the group we're facing has played together for the past six months. They've built chemistry and continuity, while we're still working to find the right balance within our own team. In terms of playing style, they share several similarities with FC Nordsjælland, so we have a good idea of what to expect," says Mørch before adding:

"The opening matches of a new season always come with a level of uncertainty, and we've already seen that nothing can be taken for granted. That's why our primary focus is on our own performance and making sure we deliver the level we know we're capable of."

Ready for a Busy Fall

The start of the season also marks the beginning of a demanding stretch of matches, with HB Køge Women set to compete both in the league and in the UEFA Women's Champions League qualifiers.

"We've built a deep squad because we expect a busy fall with a lot of matches in a short period of time. We want to compete in every tournament we're involved in, so it's important to have quality throughout the squad to manage the workload. At the same time, it allows us to develop more players over a longer period and create greater continuity in future transfer windows," explained the head coach.

Throughout the summer, HB Køge Women welcomed several new additions to the squad. According to Mørch, the changes are a natural part of the club's long-term strategy.

"The changes we've made to the squad have been intentional and are part of the next phase of the club's development. We've wanted to bring in even more talented players, raise the overall quality, and continue expanding into the markets we're working in. This time, we also had a clear ambition to strengthen our presence in countries such as Poland and Japan, and we've accomplished that with the players we've brought in."
