HB Køge Women Invest in the Future with Two Young Talents

HB Køge Women continue their commitment to developing and attracting some of the game’s brightest young talents, as the club welcomes Swedish youth international Kaia Carruthers and signs homegrown talent Alberte Rasvig to her first professional contract.

The two young players have taken different paths to HB Køge Women, but they share the same ambition, potential, and opportunity to develop within the club’s professional environment.

Swedish Youth International Joins HB Køge Women

HB Køge Women have signed promising Swedish forward Kaia Carruthers. The 16-year-old attacker was born in the United States but represents Sweden internationally, having earned caps with the Swedish U15 and U16 national teams. Kaia joins the club after most recently being part of Kristianstads DFF, where she also made her debut in the Damallsvenskan.

Kaia has spent the past several weeks training with HB Køge Women on trial, which has now resulted in a contract with the club.

Sporting Director Jonas Nielsen is excited to welcome Kaia to the team:

"Kaia has already been part of our environment for some time, which has given us a great understanding of what she brings both on and off the pitch. Her family recently relocated to Malmö, and she was previously introduced to our American sister club, HB Køge Slammers, during her time in California, so our organization was already familiar to her. What truly stands out about Kaia is her work ethic and determination to do whatever it takes to achieve her goals. On top of that, she has an outstanding physical profile that provides an excellent foundation for her development. The plan is for Kaia to train with our first team while gaining valuable match experience with our U19 squad, and we look forward to following her continued progress."

Kaia Carruthers is excited for the next step in her career:

"I was invited to train with HB Køge Women for one or two weeks while I was also training with other clubs. Two weeks turned into three, then four, and before I knew it I felt completely at home in such an incredibly welcoming environment. From teammates cheering me on in the gym to being challenged every day on the pitch, I honestly couldn't imagine a better place to take the next step in my journey. I'm incredibly excited for what's ahead and to continue developing into an even better player."

First Professional Contract for Homegrown Talent

HB Køge Women have also signed homegrown midfielder Alberte Rasvig to her first professional contract after progressing through the club's own academy system.

Alberte turned 15 in April, making her eligible to sign her first player contract. She began last season with the club's U16 team before becoming a regular part of the U19 environment, where she earned several starts throughout the season.

Head of Coaching David Lee Rigelsen sees the signing as a reflection of Alberte's impressive development:

"Alberte is a great example of the type of player development we strive to create at HB Køge Women. She has worked hard over a long period of time, shown an outstanding willingness to learn, and taken significant steps in her development. Although she is still very young, she has already demonstrated that she can compete at a high level. We're excited to continue working with her and supporting her growth within the club."

For Alberte, signing her first contract marks a special milestone:

"Signing my first contract with HB Køge Women means so much to me. It's been one of my biggest goals, so I'm incredibly proud and happy. I'm also very grateful for the trust the club has shown in me. I'm looking forward to learning as much as I can, and I know there are many exciting experiences waiting for me in the future."
