HB Køge Women can today announce that the club has signed Danish national team player Simone Boye Sørensen, aged 33.

With this move, the experienced defender returns to Denmark after several years with top international clubs.

“It's no secret that Simone has been a clear priority target for us. With her qualities, we gain not only a strong defensive profile, but also a player who brings stability, leadership, and valuable experience to the squad.

Our defensive line already contains great talents with significant development potential among our younger players. With Simone, we add someone who can lead from the front, take responsibility, and contribute calmness and composure — both on and off the pitch.

Her experience and professionalism will be an important addition and will help elevate the overall level of our defence.

We are very happy to welcome Simone to HB Køge Women,” says Jonas Nielsen, Sporting Director at HB Køge Women.

Simone Boye Sørensen joins HB Køge Women with an extensive international career behind her. She has previously played for clubs such as FC Rosengård, Bayern Munich, Arsenal, and most recently Hammarby IF.

For the Danish national team, she has made 93 appearances and has represented Denmark at three major tournaments: EURO 2017, EURO 2022, and the 2023 World Cup.

Now she heads back to Denmark, where Simone Boye Sørensen sees HB Køge Women as the ideal next step in her career.

“Returning home to Denmark and joining a club like HB Køge Women, which combines a high international level with big ambitions, is the perfect match for me and feels absolutely right.

I’ve long dreamed of coming home while still playing football at a high level. That’s why it means so much to me to join a club with clear ambitions — something HB Køge Women absolutely represent.

The club has already brought several major profiles home, and like the rest of the squad, I am ready to compete for trophies and be part of the club’s international journey,” says Simone Boye Sørensen.

Simone will meet her new teammates for the first time when the squad begins preparations for the new season on Wednesday, January 7.
