Sunday morning at 11:30, HB Køge Women visited Right to Dream Park, where FC Nordsjælland awaited. The two teams have made a habit this season of playing dramatic, high-scoring matches, so everything was set for another one of those encounters.
The match began as an even contest between the two sides, but it was the home team that created the biggest chances. However, their finishing lacked sharpness, and their attempts didn’t seriously test Alberte Vingum in the Swans’ goal. HB Køge Women created their biggest chance of the first half when Cassandra Korhonen broke through on goal. She unleashed a powerful shot that hit the inside of the post but unfortunately didn’t go in. There was little else of note in the first half, and the teams went into the break at 0–0.
The second half, however, brought more action. Just over five minutes in, FC Nordsjælland were awarded a free kick on the right side. Mille Gejl attempted to clear the cross, but the effort failed, and the ball fell to an FC Nordsjælland player, who fired a low, powerful shot past Alberte Vingum. She saw the ball late and couldn’t do much to stop it.
The lead didn’t last long, though. Just a minute later, FC Nordsjælland lost the ball near the corner flag in their own half. Jereko intercepted it just outside the penalty area and played a first-time pass to Catherine Paulson, who combined with Rikke Marie Madsen in a one-two. With her first touch, Catherine delivered a perfect through ball to Cassandra Korhonen on the opposite side. Korhonen ran through one-on-one and calmly slotted the ball past the home goalkeeper with her left foot to level the score.
After equalizing, HB Køge Women took control of the game. The Swans pressed FC Nordsjælland in their build-up play, and after several attempts, the ball once again fell to Cassandra Korhonen. She aimed for the near corner, but a fine save from Nordsjælland’s goalkeeper kept the score at 1–1. With just over fifteen minutes remaining, FC Nordsjælland had a player sent off, and ten minutes before full time, Nadia Nadim made her comeback—clearly signaling that HB Køge were going for the win. However, the decisive chance never came, and the Swans had to settle for a single point.
The next match is Saturday, May 9, when Brøndby IF visit Køge Idrætspark. There will be plenty of activities for the whole family. Kick-off is at 16:00, and tickets can be purchased here.
