The international break is now over, and HB Køge Women had six players away with various senior and youth national teams. Here’s how they got on:
Mille Gejl and Rikke Marie Madsen
Mille Gejl and Rikke Marie Madsen were both selected for Denmark’s senior national team, which played two important matches against Finland to secure their place in League A of the Nations League.
The first match ended in a dominant 6–1 away win. Mille Gejl started in midfield and played 78 minutes, while Rikke Marie Madsen remained on the bench for the entire match.
Four days later, Denmark hosted Finland in Parken in front of 14,475 spectators. Once again, Mille Gejl started and played 58 minutes in Denmark’s 2–0 victory. Rikke Marie Madsen again remained on the bench.
Denmark won 8–1 on aggregate and remain in the top tier of the Nations League.
Jereko
Jereko also had two crucial matches ahead with the Kenyan national team, the decisive qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations, taking place this spring.
In the first match, Kenya won 3–1 at home against Gambia. Jereko started and found the net as she converted a penalty with great precision.
In the second leg four days later, Kenya won 1–0, with Jereko once again in the starting lineup and once again scoring.
Kenya won 4–1 on aggregate and qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations.
Marta Lacho
It wasn’t only Jereko chasing a place at the Africa Cup of Nations. Marta Lacho and Angola faced Malawi in two qualifiers.
Lacho started the first match at home, which ended 0–0.
In the second leg in Malawi, Lacho was again in the starting eleven, but Angola were defeated 2–0. Consequently, Angola did not qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations.
Ema Aleksić
Ema Aleksić was selected for the Serbian national team, which played a friendly against Slovenia. Serbia won 4–2, with Ema spending the full match on the bench.
Sarah Thygesen
Sarah Thygesen travelled with Denmark’s U23 national team to Helsinki, where they faced Finland and Mexico in two friendlies.
In the first match against hosts Finland, Denmark won 3–1. Sarah started on the bench but came on after 63 minutes.
In the second match against Mexico, Sarah again started on the bench but entered at the start of the second half. However, after 86 minutes she was shown a red card. The match ended 1–1.
Emilie Holt
Emilie Holt was selected for Denmark’s U19 national team, which played two friendlies in Italy. In the first match, Emilie played all 90 minutes in a 1–0 defeat.
In the second match, she started on the bench but came on in the second half and scored Denmark’s goal to make it 3–1, which also became the final score.
