On Sunday, HB Køge Women will play their final away match of the season as they visit AGF in the A-League. After a week filled with training sessions, head coach Kristian Mørch is eager to get back into competitive action.
“We’re looking forward to it. In a way, it has actually been a long week with a lot of training time, so we’re really excited to get out there and play,” says Kristian Mørch.
The match kicks off on Sunday morning, and with the long trip to Aarhus, HB Køge Women have decided to adjust their usual routines slightly.
“We’ve had to travel the day before after training. We’re doing that to avoid any unforeseen issues on the road that could affect our preparations. Normally, we prefer to travel on match day so the players can spend the evening before with their families, but this time it makes the most sense to travel the day before.”
Sunday’s fixture will be the fifth meeting between AGF and HB Køge Women this season. HB Køge Women have had the upper hand in the previous encounters, recording an aggregate score of 7–0, but Kristian Mørch does not necessarily expect the same type of match as before.
“AGF have changed their style over the course of the season and play very differently now compared to the beginning. Because of that, we can’t simply repeat the same formula. They’ve been very good at limiting the chances we create, but on the other hand, we’ve been effective at converting our opportunities when we manage to break through their first line of pressure. That’s something we need to continue doing,” says Kristian Mørch.
Heading into the penultimate round of the season, the championship race is still alive. HB Køge Women could secure the Danish title as early as Sunday if they win in Aarhus and Brøndby lose their match against FC Nordsjælland. However, the team’s focus remains on its own performance.
“Brøndby have ended up in a situation where they almost come out on top regardless of how their match unfolds, so that’s not something we can really count on. Our focus is on the performance we need to deliver ourselves. We need to play as well as we have in recent matches—in terms of our game plan, our identity, our energy, and our intensity. Then we’ll let things play out as they may,” Kristian Mørch concludes.
Kick-off is at 12:00 PM on Sunday at Ceres Park Vejlby. The match will be broadcast live on TV 2 Sport X, with pre-match coverage beginning at 11:30 AM. As always, the match can also be followed on our social media channels.
